Amarillo is a place many either love or hate. For some, its not-too-big but not-too-small size, friendly residents, lower cost of living, and beautiful sunsets are what make this city home. But others may not be accustomed to Amarillo's quirks, and may not have as much of an appreciation as some of us. For this Youtuber from Mckinney Texas,  Amarillo and its downtown is a letdown. In his video titled "AMARILLO: What I Saw SHOCKED Me - Much Of The City's Center Is In Decay" Lord Spoda leaves a pretty unflattering review of Amarillo.

Walking downtown on a Sunday afternoon, Spoda is surprised to find a dead town with barely any traffic or people to be seen. Looking around, it really would seem like Amarillo is a ghost town but you have to consider, that it IS a Sunday afternoon.

Passing by the Herring Hotel, Spoda was surprised that this building was not being used for any kind of purpose which is something that we as Amarillo natives asked.

After that Spoda heads North of downtown and is........pretty disappointed by what he saw. Passing by boarded and abandoned houses, and homeless camps. After this he heads west of downtown, to find more empty buildings and broken-down houses.

But once he circles around to the south side of Downtown the review of Amarillo gets a little better. Amarillo's older houses in Polk Street leave quite an impression on Spoda, with their older architectural designs, and the pure history behind them.

Ending the video with Cadillac Ranch, Palo Duro Canyon, and The Big Texan the video actually ends on a fairly positive note. Expressing that he did enjoy some parts of Amarillo, while not enjoying others as much, Spoda left Amarillo with a pretty mixed review over Amarillo and what it has to offer for tourists.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
