In 2023 where just about everybody and their dog has their own podcast, it would come as no surprise to find out that one of your close family or friends has their own podcast. But to find out that your local police department has their own Podcast? Now that's a little out of the ordinary.

After stumbling across a YouTube channel that belongs to the Amarillo Police Department, I was surprised to find an entire catalog of podcast episodes recorded by the APD. This local series has been running since last year and is hosted by the APD's own Sergeant Carla Burr and Police Corporal Jeb Hilton.

Now you might expect that a podcast run by a bureaucratic organization might turn out to be boring or monotonous, with overloads of meanless information or occasional public announcements. But a brief overview of their catalog of episodes can quickly dispel that premonition.

From discussions about cold cases to interviews and stories from former APD officers, the APD podcast actually has a pretty diverse selection of topics that they cover. This show manages to be educational, giving listeners a further insight into the inner workings of our local police force while remaining entertaining.

Thankfully the show is still running strong spanning nineteen episodes within two seasons. The latest episode was released in April, which may mean that we have more episodes coming in the future.

You can listen to APD's podcast on YouTube, Facebook, and on most streaming services where you listen to your podcasts.
