If you haven't heard, The Amarillo Sox are no more.  Long live the Amarillo Thunderheads!

The Amarillo Thunderheads are set for their first season as the Thunderheads in May.  The Sox found it difficult to move past the mascot fiasco from a few seasons ago.

Yesterday Potter County Commissioners voted to approve a final amendment to the lease for Memorial Stadium.  The lease was renewed until 2017 last fall.

The amendment calls for $68,000 worth of improvements to Memorial Stadium before this season starts with $50,000 of improvements to be completed before each of the two following seasons.  The improvements will be funded by the Southern Independent League.

The lease was primarily amended to clarify some issues concerning the stadium improvements.
