Looking for a way to cool down this summer and hit the road to do some stay-cationing? How about a trip to the world's largest spring fed swimming pool?

With the pandemic winding down and everything reopening, hitting the road and seeing the sights are back on my "list of things to do" this summer. After spending more than a year at either my house or at work, it's well past time to do some sight seeing and find out what the great state of Texas has to offer.

And the summer heat cooking me from the outside in, I figured some swimming excursions are the perfect way to see some sights and get my float on.

KSAT reports that The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have announced that the pool at Balmorhea State Park will reopen on June 26. The pool has been closed for repairs for about two years.

What makes this pool special is that it's the world's largest spring fed pool that TPWD says is filled with more than 15 million gallons of water from the San Solomon Springs.



This must see swimming hole is on 1.3 acres and can get up to 25 feet deep - perfect for the those who wish to cool down and possible do some snorkeling or scuba diving. Best of all, the water temperature stays between 72 and 76 degrees year-round.

Balmorhea State Park is located in West Texas about an hour North of Marfa, and with it being a State Park, all you have to pay is the State Park entrance fee of $7 per adult. Children 12 and under are in for free.

Balmorhea State Park officially opens on Saturday, June 26 from 8a-7:30p (or sunset, which ever comes first), and your are “strongly encouraged” to reserve day passes in advance online or by phone by calling (512) 389-8900.
