Texas Reports No COVID-19 Deaths For First Time Since the Pandemic Began

Sunday's numbers revealed no new deaths due to COVID-19 for the first time in Texas since March 2020.

According to NewsWest 9, Texas also saw 388 new cases across the state, it's lowest number since March 2020.

One thing to note though on the good numbers, there are some counties who have stopped reporting on weekends so their numbers will be put in and added to Monday's numbers.

Governor Abbott said the state reported the lowest 7-day positivity rate and lowest number of hospitalizations, which was 2,200, in the past year.

State data shows that as of May 13, 40% of Texans have been fully vaccinated.

With that being said, to date the state has seen more than 2.4 million cases and 49,800 deaths from COVID-19 but this news is great compared to the year we have been living through.

Last week we all got the great news from CDC Director Rochelle Walensky that fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear a mask in most circumstances.

But to keep these numbers from going up, un-vaccinated people should continue to wear a mask along with those who have just received one of the two-shot vaccines.

Masks for everyone will still be required in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, and homeless shelters.

All of this will help us keep the state numbers down and we can finally feel like we are getting closer to this pandemic being under control.

As most experts have said, the pandemic is not over but with all the vaccines that have been administered, that is proving that the pandemic is close to being under control, we just have to be sure to get vaccinated and if you are not vaccinated, to wear a mask until you are fully vaccinated.
