A deadly altercation between two men in north Amarillo took place the week before Labor Day, leaving one dead and the other arrested.

According to a release given by Sgt Carla Burr of the Amarillo Police Department:

On August 28, 2022, at 3:35am, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 5600 block of NE 9th on a medical call.

 

Upon the officers' arrival, they were able to locate an older male victim within the residence. The victim was then transported to an area hospital to receive medical attention for his injuries, which were considered life-threatening.

Officers and detectives interviewed witnesses at the scene and determined the assailant to be Aung Nai Myo, a 19-year-old male.

Myo was placed under arrest and taken to Potter County Detention Center where he was booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On August 30, 2022, the victim died from his injuries. He was identified as 58-year-old Ju Nok.

With the death of Nok, the aggravated assault charges for Myo have been upgraded to murder. As per jail records, he remains in Potter County in lieu of a $400,000 bond.

The Amarillo Police Homicide unit is investigating this incident.
