It seems like Amarillo's SWAT team's schedule is staying indefinitely full, with the number of criminal situations that require their interference such as this one.

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, a tense standoff occurred in the 8100 block of Goodnight Trail between Amarillo officials and, a 25-year-old male, Isaiah Trevino who was wanted on Federal charges.

The incident took place at 12:29 p.m. when SWAT officers identified and engaged Trevino, who was leaving a residence. However, Trevino fled back into the residence he had just exited, barricading himself, and sparking a standoff.

Attempting to de-escalate the situation, officers began PA callouts, attempting to communicate with Trevino and negotiate with him. Eventually, negotiators were able to get into contact with Trevino.

Trevino eventually surrendered himself to law enforcement and was taken into custody without any resistance. Following Trevino's arrest, a search of the area was conducted by Amarillo law enforcement which led to the discovery of a firearm.

Trevino was booked into the Randall County Jail on multiple charges, including evading arrest with a previous conviction, four felony bond surrender warrants, and assault on a family member by impeding breath or circulation.

Due to the fact that Trevino's initial charges were Federal, Trevino was placed on Federal hold.

Although this story is somewhat tame compared to other situations where Amarillo's SWAT force needed to be called in, it's still an unfortunate ordeal all in all. But thankfully we can be sure that Amarillo's SWAT is not out of practice by any means though.

Amarillo On 'America's Most Wanted'

I was surprised to find out recently that we also have a bit of a history with the show America's Most Wanted.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.
