Senator Suzanne Williams has been cleared of any wrong doing and any negligence in the crash that took the life of Brianna Gomez and lead to the emergency C-Section of her unborn child. I hope I can get some feed back from the local and national community on whether you think this is fair and just. Would an average citizen been cleared of any wrong doing or negligence in this same instance?

Frustration and resignation set in for Eric Gomez on Wednesday when a grand jury cleared a Colorado state senator of wrongdoing in the crash that killed his wife.

"It's unfortunate, really unfortunate," Gomez, of Amarillo, said. "I could pout, hang my head, stomp my feet. My family is going to re-gather ourselves. I'm not 100 percent sure on what we're going to do right now. We're going to put one foot in front of the other."

Gomez was driving a GMC Yukon southbound on U.S. Highway 385 on Dec. 26, when a Honda CR-V driven by Sen. Suzanne Williams crossed the center line about four miles south of Channing and collided with his vehicle, killing his pregnant wife Brianna Gomez, 30. Her unborn son was delivered by emergency surgery.

A Hartley County grand jury took nearly 2 hours Monday to review a months-long investigation conducted by the Department of Public Safety before reaching its decision. David Green, the 69th District attorney, declined to discuss specifics of the proceedings, but 11 people emerged from the courthouse about 11:25 a.m., minutes after a county deputy announced grand jurors had concluded deliberations.

The DPS has not cited Williams in the crash, department officials said.

"The grand jury, after careful consideration of the facts and after applying the law to those facts, has decided that no indictment should be returned," Green said.
