Quirky Amarillo Art Spot to Host Halloween Movie Screenings
For those of you who love theatrics during the Halloween season and looking for a place to go, here's an event for you. On October 28th and 29th, the Amarillo vintage clothing store, Caliche Co. will have screenings of horror cult classics, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Nosferatu. Not only will they be doing screenings, but some twists and extra entertainment will be offered during and after both of these screenings.
Although there is a $5 admission fee for attendees viewing The Rocky Horror Picture Show, you can bet that you will get your money’s worth. On the 28th this showing will provide viewers with an interactive experience, allowing audience members to take part in the show. In addition to the opportunity to take part in this show, $10 prop bags will be available to aid the audience in their impromptu performances.
As for the showing of Nosferatu the following day, a much more novel viewing experience will be on display for viewers. Those who have not heard of this film would be surprised to learn about this piece of horror history. Released in 1922 in Germany, Nosferatu horrified international audiences with monsters and effects never seen before. Limited by the technology of its time, this film is in black and white and has no sound, solely relying on its visuals to terrify the audience. And as you can guess, audiences will be watching this film in its original black-and-white format. If you grow tired of the silence, however, don’t worry because there will be a post-movie performance by local Amarillo Band, Travis Roberts and the Willing Few.
