ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) — A man who police say tried to behead a New Mexico man with garden shears has been arrested in Texas.

The Roswell Daily Record reports (http://bit.ly/13MPnjs) that 34-year-old Elias Singleton was taken into custody by Lubbock police after he was flown to a hospital in connection with another attack.

Police say Singleton, also known as "Dirty," used a pair of hedge clippers when he tried to cut a man's head off Sunday after entering the victim's home. The 47-year-old victim was flown to Lubbock for treatment of severe cuts to his neck.

Authorities say Singleton assaulted another victim Monday but was injured in that attack. Singleton was taken to a Lubbock hospital where authorities there later arrested him.

He is charged with attempted second-degree murder among other charges.

It was unclear if he had an attorney.
