Phone Scam Making The Rounds On The High Plains
The Better Business Bureau wants residents to be aware of a phone scam targeting older residents.
It's called the 'Grandparent scam'. The scammer will call an elderly person and claim to be a grandchild in need of money and typically they seem panicked. The BBB advises recipients of these calls not to divulge any information until you can confirm the caller is truly a family member.
If you are asked to wire money that is usually a sign that everything isn't as it seems.
