Pawn Stars Wars

I'm a big fan of History's "Pawn Stars".  Turns out the U.S. Air Force has been watching too.

It's hard to pinpoint what exactly is so sublime about Pawn Stars.  It's a good mix of great items and interesting characters.  I've noticed a few copy cat shows and they have been unable to capture either of those like History has with Gold & Silver Pawn in Las Vegas.

I saw Rick Harrison, the owner of the shop on David Letterman.  He told the story of how all other pawn shops in Las Vegas are corporate owned by the same company.  They buy and sell items off a master list.  If an item isn't on the list they can't buy the item.  So all the really weird stuff in Vegas gets sent to them.  It was a great opportunity for a show.

Items so weird like an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile guidance system they bought the other day.  It was reported by TMZ, I don't remember seeing this in an episode.  When the Pentagon heard about it they sent some folks over to check it out.  Turns out it was all legit.  A woman sold the Pawn Stars the item but was able to produce paperwork from the government authorizing sale of the item.  So Rick and the boys get to keep the goods.  No word on if they made Chumlee test it.
