Pampa Man Evades Police During Standoff Before Arrest
On the evening of October 16, 2023, Pampa and Gray County officials were faced with a short standoff, ending in the arrest of one suspect.
According to a Facebook release from the Pampa Police Department, units were called to a domestic dispute on the 1700 block of Duncan. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an individual involved in the altercation required immediate medical attention. The individual was swiftly sent to the Pampa Regional Medical Center where they received necessary medical attention.
After this initial situation, Pampa law enforcement officers were faced with a standoff with a suspect who had presumably been hiding inside the house. After a relatively short amount of time, law enforcement officials from both the Gray County Sheriff's Office and Pampa PD entered and cleared the residence.
To their surprise the residence was empty. The suspect unknowing had fled the scene, leading to a subsequent search. This search did not take long thanks to the information given to law enforcement which led to a possible location where the suspect could be hiding.
The information proved accurate and law enforcement officials were able to find and apprehend the suspect at the suggested location, where he was hiding. Upon arrest, the individual was identified as Christopher Ryan Beller, 42.
Thankfully this situation was handled briefly and quickly by local law enforcement agents without incident. This is the first standoff situation to take place in Pampa since 2020, where law enforcement officials were tasked with arresting a man who had barricaded himself in his home after threatening a family member with a knife.
