School shootings have consistently been on the rise in America for many years. As a protective measure, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law a pretty controversial bill.

The bill was signed Thursday, June 6th. It will now allow schools to arm as many teachers and school staff with as many guns as local officials see fit. Before guns come to the school, teachers will be required to undergo 80 hours of training, including active shooter scenarios.

This bill was made in response to the 2018 shooting at Santa Fe High School near Houston.

Many people are in favor of the new bill. However, gun control advocates have opposed allowing more guns in schools as a solution to shootings. Reason being that Texas lawmakers did not pass any new gun restrictions after the shooting

How do you feel about our Texas schools requiring teachers to carry guns in their classes?
