As we begin 2018, the Amarillo Public Library begins their first Amarillo Reads of the year.  This season's Amarillo Reads has huge historical significance.

Join them as they begin the study of Elie Wiesel.  Amarillo Reads will cover his complete Trilogy that will start with Night, followed by Dawn and wrapping up with Day.

All through January and Feburary the Amarillo Public Library will have events surrounding this study.

Amarillo Reads: Vedem: The Underground Magazine of the Terezin Ghetto

Between 1942 and 1944, a group of Jewish boys risked their lives by creating Vedem’s 83 issues that documented the defiance, heartbreak, hard-won victories, and satire that typified teenage life inside the walls of the Czechoslovakia’s Terezin Ghetto. Vedem served as a form of protest and rebellion by some of the youngest resistance fighters of the World War II era.

Downtown Lunchtime Book Club- They meet the 3rd Thursday of each month and will be discussing Elie Wiesel's book Night.

Saturday, January 27th, 10am, Downtown Library

History as and Act of Remembrance - WTAMU History professor Dr. Elizabeth Morrow Clark will discuss the history and lessons of the Holocaust.

Thursday, February 1st, 6pm, Downtown Library

Paper Clips screening - this documents the Paper Clips Project, middle school teachers who classes try to collect enough paper clips to represent each human life lost in the Nazi's slaughter of the Jews.
