Six Amarillo & Canyon Schools In Playoffs

It was ALMOST a perfect run when it came to schools from Amarillo and Canyon sliding into the playoffs. Caprock was the one area school that wasn't able to slip in, and if it wasn't for the drama Amarillo High went through this week, they may have had a chance to slide in on the coin flip.

That leaves all three schools from CISD and three schools from AISD to vie for the title in 4A and 5A, respectively. Amarillo High withstood forfeits and a coin flip to get in, Palo Duro won their first district title in 20 years, and Tascosa had a strong season, finishing second in their division.

Canyon High struggled a bit in district, but did enough to get in. Randall High rode a 4-1 district record to a second-place finish, while West Plains was dominant on its way to a perfect 5-0 district record and title.
