Watch The Frightening Moment When A Cement Truck Hits A Texas School Bus
Late last week Hays CISD released dash cam footage of the deadly rollover school bus crash that occurred on March 22.
The clip that was released was short, but shows exactly what happened as the school bus was traveling in Bastrop County carrying 50 people, 44 pre-school children and 11 adults from Tom Green Elementary School.
The video shows a white cement truck from FJM Concrete Pumping LLC is seen traveling eastbound and veering into the lane of the school bus, moments later the truck slams into the bus causing the bus to rollover. Watch the video below.
The crash resulted in two deaths, killing 5-year-old Ulises Rodriguez Montoya and 33-year-old Ryan Wallace. According to KWTX there were multiple other injuries.
As of Wednesday, the driver of the truck, 42-year-old Jerry Hernandez, had been arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide. Court documents state that Hernandez has admitted to smoking marijuana the night before the crash and consuming cocaine the morning of the crash.
KWTX also reported that FJM Concrete failed to verify Hernandez's driving record before hiring him. Hernandez has a history of failed drug tests and at the time of the accident was prohibited from operating a commercial vehicle.
The NTSB along with law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigations.
