Oh, how things can change in Amarillo. Watching an empty eyesore find new life is part of the charm of living in Amarillo, proving just how fast things can change.

That is what happened with the empty United Artists Theater at I40 and Soncy. That was the go-to for many families when a new movie came out. My family, for one, was pretty bummed when it closed down.

I have seen many movies there. My daughter as well. Now it sits empty. First, we were told that Cinergy Entertainment bought it. We weren't sure what they were going to do with the location. They just snatched it up. Then it just sat some more.

Next, we found out that those plans fell through and the property was up for sale again. Recently, however, the property finally found its next chapter when Power Church officially stepped up to claim the space.

Power Church is currently at 10th and Roberts Street in Amarillo, but they are looking to relocate.

THE SECRET IS OUT… POWER CHURCH HAS A NEW HOME
What was once the United Artists Movie Theater in Amarillo will now be POWER CHURCH.
In February 2012, Pastors Manny + Rachel stepped out in faith believing God would use Power Church to save souls and build God’s Kingdom.
From Arthur St. → Roberts St. → NOW THIS.
And GOD PROVIDED—at less than HALF the appraised value.
650+ parking spots.
40+ restrooms.
More room for PWRKids, worship, media, our teams… and YOU.
They have a place that will be an easy commute to go anywhere for lunch after worship. There are so many restaurants and even shopping nearby. The parking situation is going to be great for the Power Church family. This strategic relocation brings an incredible array of perks for the growing congregation.
From Midnight Rodeo transforming into Loft Church to the old United Artists Theater finding a vibrant second act as Power Church, Amarillo's commercial landscape is constantly evolving. It just goes to show that in the Panhandle, empty spaces are never out of the game for long!
