The ’80s Are Calling: This Childhood Staple Just Made a Huge Comeback in Amarillo

The great thing about getting older in Amarillo is thinking back to some of the great things we used to do. We would go to Hastings on a Friday or Saturday night to get the latest movie. We could spend hours there.

We loved to walk through the doors of our local Toys R Us. We all wanted to be a Toys R Us kid. The holidays were just so much more magical with toys from there.

Oh, and McDonald's made our birthdays special. We would invite all of our friends for a meal and a cake. We have all had or been invited to a birthday party at McDonald's growing up.

Then it just seemed like that part of our life was gone. The birthday parties went away. They were likely retired alongside the metal ashtrays and styrofoam containers. They were missed.

Every once in a while, you would go to a local McDonald's to eat, and you would see a family try to have a little party, but they weren't the same as the ones put on by the restaurant anymore.

There are five McDonald's in our area that are ready to host your next birthday party.

• 400 E Amarillo Blvd in Amarillo
• 4402 Teckla Blvd in Amarillo
• 200 23rd Street in Canyon
• 1400 S Dumas Ave in Dumas
• 304 S Cedar Street in Borger

You have two packages to choose from for the party. This does not include food for the guests, but you can always add that on. The package does include an hour of time with a special character at the party.

Choose Your Character: From Grimace to The Grinch

The special characters to choose from are Grimace, The Hamburgler, A French Fries Box, a Chicken, a Hamburger, Chicken Nuggets, or, if it's Christmastime, you can choose The Grinch.
