Amarillo Nightlife Icon Faces Its Final Curtain Call?
You know how rumors go here in Amarillo. Is what we heard true? Is it not? Amarillo has been buzzing this week with talk that one of the city’s longtime live music hangouts may be closing for good.
Rumors Spark Amarillo Buzz
Messages began circulating on Tuesday that the owners of Hoot's Pub had informed staff that the bar would be shutting down before the end of the month. While that report has not been directly confirmed by ownership, we wanted to see if there was any truth to it.

If true, it would mark the end of an era. I mean, this was the place that a lot of us would go for live music. It was a great place to grab a beer after work. I don't know how many musicians have played on their stage.
Why Hoot’s Pub Mattered to Amarillo
For years, Hoot’s Pub has been a staple in Amarillo’s nightlife and music scene. Who hasn't walked through those doors ready for a great show? You just knew, being a patron at Hoot's, that you made sure you got there early and found parking. You knew that certain businesses around there would tow. You just knew.
Hoot's Pub was known for its laid-back vibe, strong drinks, and dedication to live music. The venue has hosted countless local bands, regional acts, and even a few nationally touring artists. It has been one of those rare spots where you could walk in on any given night and catch a great show without spending a fortune. You know, the good part of Amarillo.
Uncertain Future for a Local Favorite
The potential closure immediately sparked conversation between friends, with many longtime patrons reminiscing about their favorite memories at the bar. Of course, there were many rowdy concerts to late-night hangouts with friends.
Hoot’s Pub has built a loyal following who are already mourning the possibility of losing one of their go-to spots.
Is Hoot's Pub Closed For Good?
At this point, details remain uncertain. The website is empty where it should be full of live shows heading to Amarillo. That is more of a technical issue than anything. They do have shows scheduled in September.
We started messaging them, and when we heard back, the news wasn't what we wanted to hear. Yes, Hoot's Pub is in fact closing. Their last show is September 27th. That is when they will close up.
We asked if there was a possibility of someone coming in and taking over. They do not own the building, and the business is not trademarked. So, yes, someone can come in and lease the location and take over Hoots Pub if that is what they want.
I just can't seem to get the jingle out of my head. "Hoot's Pub, it's always a hoot at Hoot's". Who just sang along? We are going to miss having Hoots in the neighborhood. Everyone get out this month and enjoy some final live music at Hoot's.
