The winter storm of 2021 mentally wrecked Texans across the Lone Star State. The alarming reality of being so incredibly unprepared was overwhelming.

Texas doesn't get snow often so most people don't have the equipment and clothing needed to stay warm.

The Farmers Almanac, which has been predicting weather for over 200 years, is forecasting a potentially severe Texas winter in January and February 2024. "Any winter season is capable of producing cold extremes; this winter is no exception," ERCOT pointed out as we roll into Winter 2024.

The Farmers Almanac predicts that anywhere between January and February could see winter storms. Texans are warned to stay in front of the weather and be prepared for the worst. This means stocking up on items like:

  • canned food
  • bottled water
  • toilet paper
  • batteries
  • flashlights
  • baby items (like diapers, wipes, etc.)
  • jumper cables
  • blankets
  • warm clothing (jackets, coats, gloves, etc.)
