Recently, the announcement that Slug Bug Ranch on Route 66 in Texas would be moving shocked many in the area. The installation is an icon that is visible from I-40 as you make your way through the Texas panhandle. There's been a major change in the status of this area landmark.

The Near Tragic Story Of Slug Bug Ranch In Conway, Texas

It wasn't that long ago that news reports were circulating about Slug Bug Ranch and none of it was really that great. Supposedly, there was an issue with a landowner and the ranch that led to the removal of the Slug Bugs. The plan was to move them to a new location.

The sad part is that the new location would have meant that Slug Bug Ranch wasn't nearly as visible as what we're used to. You could see it from I-40. If you took the Conway exit, it was there to greet you.

The new location just wouldn't have given the Slug Bug Ranch near the same amount of exposure, and frankly, I think most of us would have missed seeing it.

Sigh Of Relief For The Slug Bug Ranch On Route 66 In Texas

The news was announced yesterday that the Slug Bug Ranch would be restored. Not only would the iconic Slug Bugs be put back in the ground, but they are going back to where they belong.

They're going back to where we've come to expect them on the Conway exit off I-40.

To make this story even happier, it didn't take long for help to commit to placing the Bugs back in the dirt. A request for help was made on social media, and in a matter of no time, someone had volunteered to bring some equipment and get the job done.

It's great news, and I'm glad the saga of Bug Ranch wound up with a very happy ending.
