Earlier in the year, one of the big hot topics was the parks here in Amarillo.

There was talk and fear of some of them being shutdown completely. but now it seems as if we've reached a resolution on that.

You may recall signs being placed around Amarillo parks with a website asking for citizens to take a survey about parks in the area. Well the results of those surveys are in...and it seems the city will go with their "master plan" for the parks.

Now, I'm not saying our recommendations and thoughts weren't good enough. I don't believe that's it at all. I think some things changed along the way that allowed the city to keep a majority of their plan in place while also being able to save the parks.

Improvements and maintenance were a big thing o the docket, and initially they weren't sure the money was there for stuff like that. Thankfully, the city council stepped up their game and threw some funds parks way that they didn't initially have.

Now they are looking for other ways to come up with more funding, such as sponsorships of baseball/softball fields or a private-public partnership so we could see even more funds get thrown at parks & rec, which would be extremely welcome.

As far as results from the surveys from the public, the biggest things were maintaining the current infrastructure and that the public values the trails and athletic fields. So if anything, the surveys gave the city a roadmap as to what we care about the most.

Stay tuned, the master plan will be presented to the council on Tuesday and more is sure to come.

This Huge Cabin In Palo Duro Canyon Is Top-Notch Glamping

This cabin is (to us) the definition of "glamorous camping".

This three bedroom rental is tucked away in the Palo Duro Canyon. It's a cabin with serious room, meaning it can fit up to eight guests--a girls trip, family vacation, or any bigger group.

The cabin is available for booking through glampinghub.com and the description along with the provided photos is enough to catch the eye of anyone ready to get out of town and away from it all.....without having to go very far.

It's a beautiful place with woodwork throughout, full amenities, and all the mandatory electornics (and WiFi!). If a group of people were to split the cost of their stay between each other, it is without a doubt one of the most budget-friendly options for vacations.

The four day minimum stay required to make a booking is the only drawback to this diamond in the rough of a rental property--but it's nothing a little planning ahead and vacation time can't remedy.

This $1.8 Million Mansion Has The Biggest Backyard In The World

This is a beautiful Mediterranean-style mansion with one truly stellar feature: the backyard.

The backyard is quite large, indeed, as it's a stunning view of Palo Duro Canyon. While the large home is incredible itself for a number of luxurious features, you'll find yourself coming back to how much you love that incredible vista of the canyon.

Located at 10900 Indian Camp Trl, Canyon, TX this home is listed for $1.8 million through Sabre Coffer at eXp Realty, LLC
