A Monday fire is being investigated by the Amarillo Fire Marshal.

The home in the 4600 block of South Crockett was reported ablaze just before 7:30 last night.  Arriving crews found the single story residence with brown smoke coming from the south side roof vent.

The Fire Department first worked on the exterior of the home before moving inside to extinguish the fire.  Officials say the fire was confined mainly to the center of the residence.  There was minimal damage to the attic but the rest of the home sustained significant smoke damage.

There was no one home and no injuries were reported although damage estimates are around $20,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
