A suspect in a 2023 shooting that killed two and injured five others has been released on a $1,000,000 bond.
On July 9 of last year, police were called out to an event center located near SW 45th and Georgia street on reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found one person deceased on the scene and another who was transported to an area hospital where he died. Five other people were reported as injured in the shooting.
Police later identified the deceased as Semagea Smith, 32, and DeQuincton Taylor, 28.
Few details were given by authorities about the incident except that it had taken place after an argument broke out at a party.
Police later released a statement naming Jose Luis Arevalo Flores III, 26, as the suspect.
Flores was booked into Randall County Jail on two charges of murder. These charges were later dismissed and re-filed as a six count indictment consisting of two counts of murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Flores' bond was set at $1 million by 251st District Court Judge Titiana Frausto. He remained in Randall County Jail in lieu of the bond until Tuesday, Mach 26.
