Court Documents Unsealed For Women Arrested in Borger
Two women were arrested in Borger on federal charges last Thursday as part of a multi-agency crackdown on drug trafficking in the panhandle.
Rachel Dawn Romero, 41, has been indicted for Possession With Intent To Distribute Methamphetamine.
Audrey Mae Perez, 41, has been charged with Possession With Intent To Distribute A Mixture And Substance Containing A Detectable Amount Of Fentanyl
Court records for both were unsealed yesterday.
According to the criminal complaint, on May 27, 2022 Audrey Mae Perez had travelled to Albuquerque, NM to obtain a significant amount of fentanyl pills. While returning to Amarillo in a red Toyota Corrolla with two other individuals, the vehicle was observed to be traveling over the speed limit and a traffic stop was conducted
After a denial to officials' request to search, a K-9 unit was called and gave a positive signal as to the presence of narcotics within the vehicle, giving probable cause for a search. In the course of the search, paraphernalia was found in Perez's purse and she was arrested then taken to Potter County jail. During her book-in, it was found that Perez had hidden 75 blue M30 fentanyl pills in her bra.
According to the complaint, Perez admitted in a mirandized interview to making up to 30 trips to Albuquerque to obtain the fentanyl pills at a range of 1000 to 5000 pills each time. She also admitted to personal use of the fentanyl as well as distribution.
She and Romero both remain in Randall County jail on a federal DEA hold.
