The Panhandle AIDS Support Organization says there are currently 279 HIV sufferers in the Panhandle.

The organization helps those with HIV cope with the stigma, helps with medicines and other medical advice to help keep them healthy and living as vibrant a life as possible.

The Panhandle AIDS Support Organization also helps prevent the spread of the disease by offering free HIV screening.  National HIV testing day is on Saturday.   Due to an expected large volume of those wishing to be screened the city is also offering the screenings at the Walgreens on North Filmore Street on Thursday from 3-7pm.
