City of Amarillo expands COVID-19 Vaccine availability
The City of Amarillo announced today the extension of COVID-19 vaccine availability to a larger group of Amarillo residents. under the new criteria defined by the State of Texas Phase 1B COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Initiative.
The groups now eligible for the vaccine includes persons 65 years of age and older as well as individuals over 18 with one or more conditions that are chronic and could put them in a higher risk category for contracting and developing complications from the Coronavirus.
Immunizations will take place at the Amarillo Civic Center North Exhibit Hall, Entrance 3 where the city is hosting it's own walk-in clinic at no charge. The city does have a few disqualifiers, patients who are allergic to a component of the vaccine or had any vaccine within the last 14 days are ineligible along with those who have recently had a monoclonal infusion within the last 90 days.
Amarillo officials also announced City Transit will provide free transportation on its fixed routes to the Civic Center to help. for those who are not near or cannot access one of these routes shuttles are also available.

As of publishing time Wednesday, the City of Amarillo COVID-19 active case count sits at 3,551 with 489 Deaths across both Randall and Potter counties
