Canyon Tax Windfall Attributed To Alcohol Sales

It's been nine months since Canyon legalized alcohol sales and the results have been striking .

Although city leaders are quick to point out alcohol sales aren't the only reason for the increase but agree it is a major factor.

So far this year, Canyon has collected $176,000 more in sales tax revenue compared to last year.

Part of the extra revenue will go towards keeping property taxes low and attracting new business to Canyon.

Another interesting statistic is alcohol related crimes are down 28% over this time last year.
