Borger Passes New Synthetic Drug Ordinance

Borger is taking the battle against synthetic drugs head on with a new ordinance.

Yesterday the Borger city council approved a new ordinance that declares synthetic drugs illegal and gives police authority to it.

Synthetic drugs are a problem for law makers as the formula in these drugs is easily changed to come into compliance with existing laws.  Borger's ordinance broadens the definition of a drug to include anything that acts as an intoxicant.

The law takes effect April 2nd and police will begin enforcing the law soon after.  The law applies to anyone caught with the substances in Borger, not just residents.
