SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A suspected armed robber and a resident have died after being shot during a break-in at a San Antonio apartment.

San Antonio police say nobody has been arrested in the exchange of gunfire early Wednesday that left two men dead. At least one suspect fled.

A police statement says two men were home when several men forced their way into the apartment during a robbery.

Police say one resident was in a main room with the suspects. The other resident, who had a shotgun, was in a rear of the apartment. Police say a shootout began when the intruders confronted the armed resident.

Police did not immediately say which resident died, who killed him or further details on the fatally shot intruder. Names of the dead men weren't immediately released.
