Amarillo Walmart Stores To Begin Offering Covid Testing On Site

Walmart has announced it will start offering Covid-19 testing here in Amarillo. Testing will be available to healthcare workers, first responders, senior citizens, and those with symptoms as established by the Centers for Disease Control and Provention (CDC). All seniors are welcome regardless if they are showing symptoms or not.

The testing will be conducted as a drive-thru set up. The test you will be given is a self-administered nasal swab test that allows you to swab your own nose while in your vehicle, supervised by trained medical volunteers. Results are delivered within 3-5 days. The testing will be by appointment only and there is no out of pocket cost to get tested.

The testing will begin on Friday, May 15, and contiunue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7am to 9am. Three Walmart stores in Amarillo will be participating:

• 4610 South Coulter
• 3700 East I-40
• 5730 West Amarillo Boulevard

There is no word on how many people the testing will be limited to per day or how long the program will continue.
