As you get older, you do start to think about retirement.  Everyone always says when you are young, make smart choices and start your retirement fund early.  At the time, you're like "nah, I'll have plenty of time."  The older I get the more I realize that no, you won't have plenty of time.  So start early.  The good news is, Amarillo is a great place to retire.

According to a recent study by WalletHub Amarillo is a good place to retire.   It's not the best, but it's far from the worst.

WalletHub looked at what Americans needed to plan that perfect and affordable retirement plan.  They studied 180 U.S. cities.  They looked at 46 different key metrics.  Those included cost of living to recreational activities, to retired taxpayer-friendliness.

Out of those 180 cities Amarillo was ranked #73.  When it comes to an affordable retirement plan Amarillo ranked #21, recreation activities Amarillo ranked #163, Quality of Life Amarillo's rank #73 and Health Care was #147.

As you can see some of those rankings aren't good, but others are great.  Amarillo is in the better half of the list of places to retire.

Orlando ranked #1, while Newark, NJ ranked dead last.

Lubbock ranked at #98 so Amarillo is a better place to retire than Lubbock.

It looks like Austin is the best place to retire in Texas.  Austin ranked #8 overall in the study.

If you were planning your retirement here in Amarillo, you're in luck, you've found a good place to retire.
