As Texas Governor Abbott has announced a timeline for certain businesses and organizations opening, the Goodwill Store in Amarillo has received approval from Amarillo City officials to reopen. Mayor Ginger Nelson and City Councilman Eddy Sauer both gave approvals for the store and donation center to open at 1904 Bell Street. The site can go back to operation under the "low-risk business" guidelines set by the city. This includes limiting the capacity of people in the store at any given time.

Donations are being accepted again from the public with extra safety measures in place. All donations are being quarantined for 72 hours before they are sorted and then they are being treated with a sanitizer before they hit the store. The store hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm, and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.

Along with the Goodwill store and donation center, the Goodwill career center is back to work with staff providing job search assistance over the phone. The center remains closed to visitors. You can contact the career center at (806) 331-6890, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Goodwill says that safety of their employees and the community is their top priority when reopening. They are working to abide by all local, state, and national guidelines. Goodwill in Amarillo is using GermBlast, which is an antimicrobial spray used to treat the facility and store. Goodwill employees that returned to work are given face masks, gloves, and additional education on safe social distancing and rules.
