On the evening of Saturday, October 21, 2023, a shooting took place at a restaurant in Borger which resulted in multiple gunshot victims and one fatality. According to an information release from the Borger Police Department a disturbance had been reported from the 700 Block of North Main Street. The situation worsened as the call went on and eventually, gunshots rang out.

When the police arrived on the scene, they found four gunshot victims, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jose DeLeon, 31, Troy Geraldizo, 31, Troy Preas, 49, and Troy Preas, who are all residents of Houston, were all hurt and were taken to nearby hospitals. Sadly, Jose Alvarez, 25 of Houston was pronounced deceased on the scene by a local Justice of the Peace who was at the scene.

Seth Preas, 25, of Borger, was detained and charged in connection with the incident with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the ongoing investigation, several individuals at the result got into a fight. Eventually, the fight escalated and multiple firearms were pulled out which resulted in the shooting.

This was considered an isolated incident by the Borger Police Department and there are no further considered threats to the Borger community although law enforcement is not currently actively seeking further suspects, they are urging any witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation.

As the investigation continues, further arrests and charges are anticipated in relation to this incident.
