Do you remember where you were when you heard of the Challenger disaster 25 years ago?

I know I do.  Obviously our area has been touched much more closely by a shuttle disaster.  It is unfortunate we have to remember two.  But today is a day for Challenger.

I was in high school and hopeful of maybe being just young enough to eventually find low earth orbit work.  That may sound funny but we all have dreams when we're young.

The American manned space program was progressing rapidly.  Not only the ISS but a return to the Moon and eventually Mars were real possibilities.  That all changed thanks to some bad weather and o-rings.

I was changing in the gym locker room from working out getting ready for lunch.  A classmate came through and casually mentioned the disaster which had just occurred.  Once I overcame my disbelief the realization of the disaster's impact became apparent.  The manned space program would be set back many years, too many for me to get involved.

As we all remember the tragic events of 25 years ago let us know where you were!
