Texas has a plethora of ghost towns that are ripe for exploring. One of those ghost towns isn't too easy to check out, though, because its at the bottom of a lake.
Located on U.S. 90 in West Texas, this little town was once a waterhole for weary travelers in the 1850's and was the hub for cotton farming in the area in the early 1900's.

Unfortunately, there are those who believe that Wayside is a ghost town. I'm sure if you asked the 30 or so people who live there, they'll say otherwise.
It's well worth the drive to spend a weekend on the water and camping in the Quartz Mountains. Even with a ghost town resting at the bottom of the lake.
