Helping Hands: How You Can Support Students at Palo Duro High School
Amarillo, in a way, is a big small city. We are a city with a hometown feel, and the city is full of caring residents who take care of each other. While some may disagree with that statement, the fact is, when our fellow Amarillians need us, we come together.
Here’s a chance to step up for our community’s students as they grow and learn to take care of themselves.
High school is a big world for young adults, and having the right essentials helps them focus on learning and thriving.
Why Does Palo Duro High School Need Donations?
Times are not easy for many, and a little support can go a long way. You know the saying, 'it takes a village,' and it does take a village to raise a child.
Those who run the Palo Duro High School Health Room are asking for help, and as a community, we can all come together to help. Students often need more than school supplies. Items like clothing, coats, and hygiene products make a big difference in their daily lives.
What Items Can You Donate to Help Students?
- Clothing (all sizes, especially socks and women’s underwear).
- Hygiene items: chapstick, shampoo, soap, deodorant (hotel-size donations are especially useful).
- Hoodies and coats, particularly in the winter months (must be new or gently used).
It is time we become a village for these kids.
Where Do You Drop Off Donations for Palo Duro High?
You can drop these donations off at the main office of Palo Duro High School at 1400 N. Grant St. Make sure you specify to the office staff that items are for the health room.
Everyone is encouraged to jump in and help from individuals, businesses, and organizations.

How Has Amarillo Supported Local Students Before?
We have seen firsthand what a community can do for high school students. Just recently, the community has come together to help students at Caprock High School whose FFA animals were killed or injured in a dog attack. Now is the time to come together to help Palo Duro High School students with basic life necessities.
