$20K in Scholarships Awarded to Texas Panhandle Students
Living in Amarillo, one of the cores of us is the agricultural world. It's the heartbeat of the Texas Panhandle and what we do. Look around, and you'll see cattle everywhere. Because of this, there are a lot of our youth who become interested in it.
Our schools are loaded with 4-H programs across the panhandle, and many participate in them. These students receive recognition from their school and different competitions they compete in, but it's not just those things that they get recognized.
AgYouth Scholarship Banquet Provides More
Tonight, Tuesday, April 14th, AgTexas Farm Credit is holding its 11th annual AgYouth Scholarship Banquet at The Barn at The Lumberyard, and it's going to be a big night for some of our area youth.
There will be $20,000 in scholarship awards, as well as many different honors to youth who have shown excellence in 4-H and FFA programs around the Texas Panhandle. We don't know the number of youth picking up scholarships, or those who already have, but there's going to be some college money tossed around tonight.
How Do Students Get Considered For The Scholarships
Students who applied for the scholarships had to write a comprehensive essay about what they've accomplished with their local FFA Chapter and/or 4-H Club. It's not just about the awards they've won or anything like that, but a whole lot more.
They had to detail their participation in high school, things such as student activities, accomplishments, leadership positions, and awards. They also had to highlight their volunteer work within the community, their commitment to agriculture, and their vision for where they'll be in five years.
Congratulations to all the youth winning those awards this evening!
