Theft in Amarillo isn't exactly anything new. We hear and see about numerous thefts each day, some big, some small. Cars seem to be a popular thing to steal, or at least items inside a car.

However, most of the time, items that are taken are typically things that are left unattended and just lying around. Many items sitting in a yard are easy targets as people can just walk up, take it, and continue their journey. Lately, though, there has apparently been a bit of a rash on this one particular item around Amarillo and Canyon.

What Item Is A Popular Target

It appears that bicycles have become quite the target these days for whatever reason. Just on Facebook, there have been multiple posts about bikes being snatched from people's homes.

The wild thing is that the majority of these bikes being taken weren't exactly easily accessible. The thieves had to put a little work into either getting them or finding them.

Three Bikes Snatched In Canyon

About two weeks ago, a user hopped on Facebook to report that THREE bicycles were taken from their home in one fell swoop. One of the bikes was just sitting in the front yard, again, an easy target.

The other two, however, were in the person's barn, which means the thief had to actually enter something on their property to find them. No word on if anything else was taken from there, but it goes to show that thieves have no worry about getting into whatever they can.

One Bicycle Stolen Twice In Amarillo

Another user took to Facebook to post about a person they saw on their doorbell cam. They didn't take the bicycle just once; they took it TWICE. This particular bicycle was even secured both times.

The thief cut the lock off the bike that was chained to a pole in the user's driveway and rode off. Numerous people said they may have seen the thief riding it around the South Georgia area. No word on whether it was recovered.
