Update: What is Going on With the Closed Crazy Larry’s Barbecue?

Back in early March, Crazy Larry's Barbecue had a fire here in Amarillo. The fire started after the business was closed for the day. That was March 11th and since then they have been closed. The business on Teckla has been dark.

That meant it has been a long four months without Crazy Larry and his frito pies. That is my weakness when it comes to barbecue. A darn good frito pie and Crazy Larry's has it. So will they open back up? What is the plan? Is there one?

That has been the question or questions I have seen asked about on social media since the fire. The answer has finally come from the family of Crazy Larry. Crazy Larry's owners: Larry and Jennifer gave an update to their niece Dotti:

Hey everyone, I have an update on Crazy Larry’s BBQ. I spoke with my aunt Jennifer and she told me to let everyone know their first day back open is going to be September 3rd!! She’s super excited for everyone to see the remodel and thank you for all the support!

So we only have to wait a little bit more than a month and a half. We can do it. To be fair they will have been closed six months since the fire. I know that seems like a long time to those of us missing their food. In reality, they had a lot of work to do and got it done in just six months.

So September will be here before we know it. We will once again be able to get to Crazy Larry's for our fix. I will be looking forward to one of their Frito pies once again. It will be a good day.
