This Amarillo Family Fun Place is Growing and Looking for Help
Amarillo is pretty lucky to have a lot of the fun family places that we do. We can take the family out to Palo Duro Canyon for some hiking. We can take them to a local sports event during each season: the Sod Poodles, the Amarillo Wranglers, Amarillo Venom, or an Amarillo Bombers game.
There are tons of holiday events like the Electric Light Parade and Christmas in Canyon. We always have something going on. If you can't find something to do with the family you just are not trying very hard.
Recently the Discovery Center, another fun family place, shared a tease for an announcement coming from Wildcat Bluff. If you didn't know, Wildcat Bluff is part of the Don Harrington Discovery Center. They have several fun events out at Wildcat Bluff - 2301 N Soncy, including Toddler Tracks. A fun time to take your toddler out to discover nature.
So I was interested to see what this announcement was going to be. Turns out that Wildcat Bluff is growing. They just acquired Mariposa Trails which will end up adding 125 acres to their land. This is great news.
With this announcement came the ask, and no better time than now to ask, for help. The help they need is monetary and they will use that money to help get the new land ready for Amarillo families to get out and discover.
According to their post:
This expansion isn't just about adding trails; it's about creating new opportunities to connect with nature, protect Amarillo's natural habitats, and inspire the next generation of conservationists. Imagine more space to explore, more wildlife to protect, and more ways for families, hikers, and nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Panhandle.
The new land needs fencing and signage. They also need to get some trail-building equipment. So during Panhandle Gives they are asking for help to get this stuff and make this a reality for our families.
HERE is where you can donate during Panhandle Gives to help get this project started.
