The Woes Continue – Amarillo Loses Another Restaurant
It seems like Amarillo is really getting used to having a new restaurant or business close up. We don't like it. It's not something we want to have happen. It just seems like they keep coming. I don't know what is going on in 2024 but here we are.
Another place has closed down. This time the closing has affected Saigon Restaurant at 2909 W Interstate 40. The sign was sudden and mentioned as just temporary. Until they can get back open they will be teaming up with Pho 84 at 5713 SW 34th.
If you are a fan of Vietnamese food you have probably been to Saigon a time or two. The note came as a surprise to a lot of people. Even if it is just temporary it still leaves a hole in our city.
Who knows they might enjoy the partnership at Pho 84 and keep that up. There is just so much up in the air right now. It looks like they are looking for a new location according to their sign. So that leaves a big empty building right there on I40.
It doesn't look like Saigon Restaurant will be returning there. It seems like they have been there for quite some time so it's sad to see Amarillo losing yet another one this year. According to the appraisal district the current owner has had that property since 2013. That building was Pepitos before that and then it seemed to just set empty.
So hopefully Saigon Restaurant finds a new place to move into. We also hope something ends up moving into their former location. We really don't like seeing an empty building sitting there for long. That just means we are missing out on another potentially great business in Amarillo.
