The Parent’s Secret Weapon: How to Survive Amarillo’s Upcoming 4-Day School Weekend
As we make it to another month in Amarillo, we have to be ready for more time off for the kiddos. I remember having holidays and such off. I don't ever remember having a four-day weekend many times during the school year.
This is where those 'back in my day' stories came in. No, I didn't walk up hills both ways. I did have to wear bread bags over my shoes to meet the bus down the caliche road between Amarillo and Canyon.
I do remember watching the TV or listening to the radio to see if we won the lottery of a snow day. Those didn't happen too often. Oh, and not too many four-day weekends. We certainly didn't get the time off around Valentine's Day either.
The 4-Day Weekend: Why Amarillo Schools are Out This February
I know things are different now, and the kiddos have a four-day weekend coming up. They will get the normal third Monday of February off for Presidents' Day. The school is also throwing in Friday, February 13th as well. I'm sure it's some sort of teacher in-service/staff development. At least that is the case in Amarillo schools.
So that means once again, parents have to struggle not for just one day, but two this time. If you don't have family or friends, your kiddos can hang with this could be an issue. You may not have a daycare they go to for after-school help.
Discovery Day Camp: Flexible Options for Busy Parents
This could be an issue. Unless you count on the Don Harrington Discovery Center to help out. I mean, it's a huge win-win because the kids love going there anyway, so you can be the hero. Then you can also get your work done as well.
The Discovery Center's Day Camp is both Friday and Monday. You can choose half-day or full-day care. If you need early drop-off or late pick-up, they also take care of that.
How to Register and Secure Your Spot Today
They can be the first to check out their new Dinosaur exhibit that opens on Sunday. You’ll earn some major 'cool points' there, too. Get them signed up for the Day Camp NOW.
