Dasher Diary: Check Your Info Amarillo and Then Check it Again
Amarillo, when you are waiting for food to get to you I know sometimes it seems to take forever. You are hungry and all you want is to enjoy whatever you ordered. As a delivery driver trust me we want to get you the food as soon as possible.
I, want to get that great-smelling food out of my car to keep me from wanting all the goodness. I also want to get on to my next order so that I can make more money. Let's be honest that is the biggest motivator. We have bills to pay.
When I am assigned an order I do a lot of research before I go and pick up the food. I know where I am going to get the order. I look up the final destination to see where I am dropping it off. I check the road conditions to hope that I am not going to hit any construction. Trust me, that has been tricky these days. I find an alternate route if I need to.
I want the handing-off of food to go as quickly and smoothly as possible. If I see anything that might be an issue I go ahead and message the customer. That is where you come into play. If you order food please keep an eye on your phone.
The delivery service sends a ton of updates but sometimes we run into problems. Sometimes the restaurant is out of something and we need to make a substitution. Sometimes you live in a gated community and you don't give us a code.
Sometimes you give us an apartment number and you don't live in an apartment. Or better yet, you give me the wrong address and then we can't find your apartment. If you don't know where you live how do you expect me to figure it out?
Regardless of what comes up check your phone for messages. Recently, I had a delivery to The Big Texan. I have delivered to the motel. I have delivered to the restaurant. There was a recent delivery that led me to question what they meant.
They wanted me to deliver to The Big Texan Motel but they were going to meet me at the entrance. Ok? If it was a hotel I got that, I go to the entrance to the hotel. I wasn't sure where the entrance to the motel would be. So I messaged them to ask if they meant the restaurant.
The part that was bad is I never heard back from them. So I was hoping when I got to the location and drove around near the motel part I would be able to find them. I was not. So I had to call. All of this slowed down the delivery of the food.
So please from the time you place an order and until you get your food in hand, watch your phone. You may be missing out on some important communication. That and make sure your information is correct. Make sure the delivery information is correct. Oh, and in this case they meant for me to meet them at the restaurant. So they did finally get their food.
