As often as we hear about new restaurants opening in Amarillo, it's surprising when we come across something that we haven't heard about. Sitting on the couch scrolling through Door Dash, I came across a restaurant I had never seen before. The pictures looked incredible, and the menu was just what my hangover was craving. Now, it's become one of the go-to places for my family.

Feed Me In Amarillo, Texas Is A Vegan Surprise

Because of dietary restrictions and allergies, we eat a lot of vegan food at my house. Just when I had thought I had tried everything Amarillo had to offer, I came across Feed Me. As we looked through the menu, we couldn't help ourselves. It looked like we didn't have to worry about anything on the menu, so we loaded up on burgers, hot dogs, and sides.

The thing that caught our attention right off the bat was the fried green tomatoes. It isn't something you see very often, much less at a place that meets our dietary restrictions. From there I ordered their BYO burger, and my girlfriend ordered the hot dog that comes loaded with chili, cheese, and onions. We also got the pickle fries.

The only problem with the meal was how messy the burger got. I chalk that more up to sitting in the container waiting to get from the restaurant to my door. The bread was a little soggy and barely held together by the time it got to me.

I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed the burger. I'm a burger fiend and judge restaurants harshly by the quality of their burger, vegan or not. Feed Me's BYO burger was delicious, full of flavor, filling, and unbelievably vegan.

We were shocked that we'd never heard of Feed Me. We finally went to the restaurant over Labor Day Weekend to pick up some food before a family gathering, and I was surprised to find it was just a few minutes up the road. It's tucked away on West Amarillo Blvd, and it's a little easy to miss. We drove right by it before realizing we needed to turn around.

Amarillo Is Slowly Becoming A Haven For Those Who Eat Vegan

The bigger story is that there are a lot of places that are popping up catering to those who have dietary restrictions, allergies, or for whatever reason have decided this is the way they want to eat. The best part is that Amarillo has a lot of delicious options available. Whether it's getting something sweet from Blue Crane Bakery, picking up a monster breakfast burrito from The Brunch Truck, or now getting a burger as big as your face at Feed Me, there's something for whatever you're craving.

I'm glad to see more vegan restaurants and food trucks popping up. If you've got one in Amarillo, I'll be seeing you soon.
