Lake Meredith in the Texas panhandle is home to one of the most elusive monster fish in the entire Lone Star State. Meredith Mike is supposedly a massive catfish prowling the deep waters of the panhandle lake and has been giving anglers the slip for generations. This October, Lake Meredith is hosting their first Meredith Mike Festival.

Meredith Mike Festival Is Officially Coming To Lake Meredith In October

It's fascinating that it took this long for a Meredith Mike Festival to happen. The legendary fish has been the topic of many fishing stories for as long as some of us can remember. There have been bounties put out for the capture of the monstrous catfish, and stories have been passed down through the generations of his mammoth size that somehow gets bigger every year.

The festival named after Lake Meredith's most famous resident kicks off on October 5th. It's going to be a day full of events, music, and food at one of our favorite spots in the panhandle.

The Lineup For Meredith Mike Festival At Lake Meredith

According to the flyers that have been posted about the festival, this year there is plenty for everyone to enjoy at the first Meredith Mike Festival. One of the most exciting parts of the fest is the return of the Meredith Mike Triathlon.

The triathlon hasn't taken place since 2019 and will see its triumphant return this year during the Meredith Mike Festival. It includes:

  • 8-mile mountain bike trail
  • 3-mile kayak
  • 3-mile run

It's a relay event, and you can get more information by following this link.

Along with the triathlon will be weenie dog races for you and your weenie dog to participate in. Also, be ready to enjoy a lot of live music and there will be food trucks on hand to keep you good and fed.

Cheers to you Meredith Mike. This is one heck of a party in honor of a legendary monster fish.
