Government Offices Are Closing In Amarillo Due To The Weather
This morning, many of us were greeted by snow falling in Amarillo. It didn't take long before the roads became covered and slick. Cancellations and delays were announced, and through the day more have been added to the list. Even Coffee Memorial canceled mobile blood drives for today. Now, Potter County and the City of Amarillo have announced closures for today.
Potter County Announces Closings Due To Weather
The Potter County Sheriff's Office announced earlier today that the sheriff's office would be closing at noon. According to their announcement, Judge Tanner authorized all Potter County offices to close at noon today due to the weather.
All essential personnel will continue working. However, if you need to take care of business at any Potter County office, it would be wise to call before you go. There's a solid chance they'll be closed.

Amarillo City Offices Close Thanks To The Weather
The City of Amarillo announced that City offices would also be closing at noon today. In their announcement, they referred to the weather as "the ongoing snow event."
Essential services will still be operating. That includes the fire and police departments, the OEM, and road crews. Road crews are continuing their sanding operations to try help us all navigate our way around town. They mentioned that they would be posting updates tomorrow morning.
Drive Slow And Be Safe In Amarillo
The Potter County Sheriff's Office put it best when they urged everyone to stay home if possible. Conditions are hazardous, and the roads are slick. If you can find a nice spot on your couch to share a blanket with, do it. There's not much worth risking getting out in this weather.
