The weather in Amarillo, Texas continues to be completely wild. Recently, we've seen records broken and we've had the first frost forecasted in the panhandle. This week, we're doing it one more time. If you thought you had weather whiplash before, give it a couple of days.

We Broke Another Record High This Week In Amarillo, Texas

Yesterday was a hot one. It didn't feel like the end of October. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, we peaked out at 91 degrees. That officially beat the former record set in 2016 of 87 degrees.

One of the reasons for it being so hot this year is the La Nina climate system making everything dry. As we get closer to November, it'd be nice if La Nina would just go find someone else to annoy with its dry conditions and warm weather. Looking at the forecast for the next couple of days, that might be happening.

From Record-Breaking Highs To A Potential Freeze In The Same Week In Amarillo

You read that right. We're going from having a day of record-breaking highs in the Texas panhandle to possibly seeing our first freeze. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, our first chance at having a freeze in the panhandle happens Wednesday night.

This is insanity. The weather in the Texas panhandle is notorious for being wild and unpredictable. We often joke about getting all four seasons in one day, but this isn't funny. It looks like we're about to get punched square in the face with a good old-fashioned cold-as-heck front. It's going to make those overnight temperatures plummet to the point of possibly being below freezing.

You've got just a little time. Get your winter clothes out of storage and take care of your plants before the bottom falls out of the temperature.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
