Make A Difference: Volunteer Or Donate For Amarillo’s PIT Count 2025
It's a new year in Amarillo, and that means it's time for us to take count. In several discussions recently, the topic of those experiencing homelessness has popped up. At the end of this month, we in Amarillo have an opportunity to help and to make a difference. It's time for the Point-In-Time Count.
PIT Count Happening In Amarillo At The End Of January 2025
The PIT (Point-In-Time) Count is coming up in Amarillo at the end of this month. It's an opportunity for volunteers to gather and help the City determine the "impact of HUD programs and policies".
On the volunteer sign-up form it is mentioned that volunteers will help record a 24-hour snapshot of individuals experiencing homelessness. Multiple training sessions will be held ahead of the January 31 count.
Other Ways To Help If You Can't Volunteer
If volunteering isn't something you're able to do, you can still help out. Donations are being accepted ahead of the PIT Count taking place this month. Here are the items that are being accepted:
- chapstick
- socks
- gloves
- hats
- body wipes
- toothpaste
- toothbrushes
- bottled water
- hand warmers
- hand sanitizers
- pre-packed snacks
- hard candy
- small blankets
- lotion
- feminine hygiene products
- winter essential items
These items will be included in gift bags.
